13 Hours Movie World Premiere

January 13, 2016 by Julie Leave a Comment

My love for The Office ranks right up there with my devotion to Gilmore Girls. They are both often watched and even more often quoted. When The Office ended my sister bought me my very own Dundler Mifflin shirt.

John Krasinski was adorable as Jim Halpert on The Office. And I’ve followed his career obsessively fondly ever since. About a month ago I saw an article in the paper announcing that they would be holding the World Premiere for John’s new movie 13 Hours at the football stadium in Dallas (really Arlington) Texas. Like, 30 minutes from my apartment.

And the tickets were FREE.

You bet I jumped on that chance in a second.

Apparently me a several thousand other people. Because last night was finally the night, and it was a full house.

An hour to get in the door and scrambling to find seats (it was all general admission), but we got there in time for all the festivities. A little pre-movie concert from Chris Cornell, The Band Perry, and ogling the celebrities on the red carpet from a distance.

After the movie we tried to see if we could spy a celebrity or two. We hovered near the VIP section with a crowd of other people. I saw David Denman for a second but couldn’t get a photo before he moved.

So, America Ferrera gets to continue as my best celebrity encounter.

Living in Fort Worth I don’t think I ever anticipated getting to attend a world premiere, red carpet and all. The audience was really into the movie with plenty of outbursts and clapping. I love that they brought the real men the movie (and book) are based on up at the end of the film for a standing ovation from the crowd. It was fun night and an experience I won’t soon forget.

Have you ever been to a movie world premiere? Any great celebrity sightings or encounters?

I’ve never been to a world premiere and I don’t think I have any truly great celebrity sightings. How fun was this though?!
