This Valentine’s Day let everyone know “I Need S’more Friends Like You!” Sweet Valentine s’mores gift baskets and a gorgeous floral balloon heart backdrop
Valentine’s Day is such a fun holiday. I love making Valentine’s for my kids and putting together cute treats for my friends. It’s not a holiday we take super seriously, and my husband and I have never done big gifts for the holiday. I make a silly breakfast (usually something red or pink) and we just all have fun together.
Last year I put together a Galentine’s Day party with a few of my friends and make some really fun My Life Would Succ Without You Galentine’s Day Crochet Succulent Gifts.
This year I’m making these “I Need S’more Friends Like You” Valentine’s Day Baskets. Filled with everything you need to make Valentine s’mores. Invited some friends over, build a fire in the backyard, and roast some marshmallows. It’ll be the sweetest Valentine’s Day! Want to make your Valentine’s Day party (or Galentine’s Day party) even more festive? Put together a floral heart balloon backdrop.
Floral Heart Balloon Backdrop
To make this floral heart balloon backdrop you need a few supplies:
- Kraft paper
- Scissors
- Marker
- Balloons (I used four different shades of balloons including rose gold, pink, and gold)
- Tape
- Faux flowers
- Faux greenery
The first step is to use the kraft paper to cut out the shape of your heart. My heart is about three feet across, but you can make yours any size you’d like!
The biggest part of making the floral heart balloon backdrop is blowing up the balloons. If you have a little balloon pump, it will come in very handy! Otherwise, just blow up balloons. A lot of them. I used four different shades of balloons and filled them up to different sizes. In general I tried to make the balloons more rounded rather than oblong.
Use double sided tape to attach the balloons to my paper outline. Begin by taping balloons with the knotted tail side to the paper. Use bigger balloons first and then fill in with smaller balloons.
Once my paper was pretty covered with balloons it was time to add flowers! I used both faux peonies and faux hydrangea’s. Once I added the flowers I went back through and added a bit of faux Eucalyptus greenary.
My floral balloon heart backdrop was finished! I ended up attaching my kraft paper to a burlap tablecloth and then hung the tablecloth behind my table as a backdrop.
Valentine S’more Friends Like You Gift Basket
These “I Need S’more Friends Like You” baskets were really were this Valentine’s Day party all started. I made myself a pair of Tiny Hearts fingerless gloves. Then I wore them while roasting marshmallows to make s’mores. Then I realized that s’mores would be a perfect treat for Valentine’s Day. And then I put together these cute baskets!
I Need S’more Friends Like You gift basket supplies:
- Chipwood baskets
- Valentine’s day napkins
- Mod Podge
- Paint
- Sponge brush
- Vinyl roll
The first step is using Mod Podge to attach the napkin to the baskets. Brush a thin layerof Mod Podge on the basket and lay the napkin on top. Then brush another thin layer of Mod Podge over the top. Allow to dry.
Once the napkin was Mod Podged to my basket I went around the top and painted the edge. You could certainly paint the top edge first, or even Mod Podge the napkin over the top edge as well.
With the baskets almost finished I wanted to assemble the items going in the basket. I used some clear treat bags and filled them with graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows. Enough to make two s’mores, though you could always add extra!
Tie off the bags with a little bakers twine, red and white for Valentine’s day, and the s’mores bags could get dropped inside the baskets.
The last step was to use my vinyl cutting machine to cut out these cute labels. You could also handwrite them as well.
