owl hat crochet pattern

Digital pattern download for the Owl Hat Crochet Pattern

Supplies
Worsted weight yarn
Size F 3.75mm crochet hook

Pattern notes
This pattern uses single crochet (sc), double crochet (dc), and front post double crochet (fpdc). This pattern is worked in continuous rounds.
It might help to use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round.
The cables are a bit tricky. The first cable on each round twists to the left and the skipped stitches are worked in front of the previous 2 stitches.
The second cable on each round twists to the right and the skipped stitches are worked behind the previous 2 stitches.
Skipped stitches are worked in order. Crochet the first skipped stitch first, then the second skipped stitch.

I am using a smaller hook than what is listed on the yarn. My yarn has a suggested hook of J-10/6mm. Using the 3.75mm hook a 4″x4″ swatch is 18 stitches and 21 rows.
You will need about 120 yard of yarn.

If you want to add button eyes, as in the picture, you will need 14 buttons. (There are seven owls.)

All abbreviations are in American crochet terms.
