Pinterest week! {wreaths}

June 18, 2012 by Julie Leave a Comment

Today begins the Live Pinterest week! (Missed the Live Pinterest week explanation? Click here)

Today’s crafts are wreaths. The wreath that I made for the event was this book page paper wreath which was inspired by the wreath I saw here. This is my completed wreath

I started by cutting out the base for my wreath. I used a metal bowl that was almost 16 inches in diameter. I traced around it, and then measured two inches in all the way around. I then used an exacto knife to cut out the inside circle. And there I had my wreath base.
Then it was time to cut out my paper squares. I substituted old book pages for the paper for my wreath. Because of the size of my book I also made all of my paper squares the same size, at 4 inch squares.
I folded my squares into a sort of cone shape (folded into thirds, but on the corner). I also flattened my pieces. I taped my pieces together and then began hot glueing them to the base. Here it is after the first round. I glued these down so the point was about halfway down the base.

As soon as the first round was done I started glueing the second round. These I glued so the points touched the inside of the base.

Then I glued down the third round. These were attached so that the points could fold over and be glued on the back

I then added an extra piece to the wreath. I inserted the paper cones one into another to form a circle piece. I wanted it to go around the inside circle part of the wreath.

After I had it laid out I glued it into place

I really love how this wreath turned out.

This wreath was also a birthday gift for my Mom. She’s an English teacher and I think it will be fun for her to have in her classroom.

Some of the other wreaths at the activity included this Toilet Paper Roll wreath
Two Yarn Wreaths

This summer-time pinwheel wreath

A Felt Heart Wreath

An Ornament Wreath
An Umbrella Wreath
