Patriotic Yarn Flag Wreath

May 20, 2014 by Julie 8 Comments

Patriotic Yarn Flag Wreath

In case I haven’t mentioned it lately, I really have the most amazing customers. Last week one of them emailed me asking if I could make her a wreath for Memorial Day that is coming up here in the U.S. I said, of course! And from that request came this Patriotic Yarn Flag Wreath.

The wreath is an 18 inch base. It uses three skeins of yarn, one each in red, white, and blue.

I began with finger knitting. Holding three strands of yarn together at a time I finger knit each color of yarn (you can see my finger knitting tutorial here).

I wrapped the blue finger knit yarn around the base first, covering approximately 1/4 of the wreath. Then I divided the rest of the wreath into 7 sections and alternated wrapping the red and white around.

The stars are white wooden stars that are hot glued to the blue yarn.

If you would like to purchase a pre-made wreath you can find them in my shop HERE.
