our summer schedule

June 15, 2012 by Julie Leave a Comment

The twins and I seem to do better in the summer when we have some sort of schedule. Not an elaborate one, but a general idea of what’s going to happen each day. My Mom found this a couple of months ago on Pinterest and and sent it to me. I filed it away and then when summer started I showed it to the twins. They thought it was a great summer plan.

We’ve been sticking to the plan so far and I think it’s going really well. (The light saber freezer pop holders that I posted earlier this week were one of our make something Monday projects.) Really the only day that I’m sort of struggling with on this calendar is the thoughtful Thursday. If you have some idea’s for idea’s that would be good for 10 year olds I’d love to hear them.

I also always have grand idea’s of doing some sort of “school” during the summer to keep the kids sharp. Science is pretty easy, I found a website with lots of science activities to do with the twins. I’ve also come up with lots of practical math activities we can do. And in July the twins are going to Washington, D.C. with my Mom so our history/social studies activities are going to focus on US History and what they will see when they are there.

What I’m struggling with are some spelling/writing activities. (The kids love to read, and our weekly library trips will make sure they have lots of books). If you have any idea’s for those kinds of activities I’d love to hear them as well!

Do you have a summer schedule? What is it like?
