My Dad always made time to spend with us one on one. Some of my favorite childhood memories with my Dad are when he would take me fishing. It was time I got to spend just the two of us. Getting up when it was still dark made it seem exceptionally early, and made it feel like a special outing. I remember the red and silver fishing boat we had. And even before we had a boat sometimes we would go to the lake and fish off of one of the docks together.

Now I get to see my husband take our kids fishing. Youngest Twin in particular likes to go with him. Littlest enjoys running around and playing at the lake more than the actual fishing, but he is always excited when he gets to go along. It seemed fitting for Father’s Day to create some nautical related crafts.

Nautica has a new Life deluxe gift set that I picked up at Macy’s as the basis for our gift. (This gift set includes: 3.4 oz Eau de Toilette, 2.5 oz Aftershave Balm, 2.5 oz Shower Gel, and 1 oz Eau de Toilette.)

The gift set features the Nautica sail boats, but the fragrances also clearly feature a braided rope through the class. The rope served as inspiration for our Father’s Day sign, “Our family would knot be the same without you”. This was a simple craft, but I think it makes a great impact. You just need two pieces of rope tied in a square knot. Write out the lettering for the sign and attach your knot.

To go along with the fishing theme the kids helped make a fishing Father’s Day card. ‘Fishing’ you a Happy Father’s Day. What can I say, I like puns. We attached a few candy fish to the card and left the rest for him to eat.

I’ve shared some memories about my father and husband. Who is the anchor in your life?
