When my husband and I first got married the most substantial piece of furniture that we owned was our bed. For the first year we were married both our desk and our kitchen table were folding tables and we used folding chairs. For our first married Christmas together (we got married just after Christmas) we bought ourselves a washer and dryer, and a brand new kitchen table with 4 chairs. The table was a round table with a leaf that we could add to make it oval if we had company. While we have replaced almost every other piece of furniture in our home (couches, the washer and dryer, beds) that kitchen table that we bought for Christmas is still the one sitting in my dining room.

The kitchen table is not only where we eat dinner together as a family but it is also where the Oldest Twin and I do homeschool lessons. It’s where all kinds of activities and celebrations center. That’s a lot of pressure for a piece of furniture. And when you’re the center of so much attention you want to make sure you look your best. Or that your table does.

On my latest grocery trip to Kroger I made sure to pick up a can of Pledge® Orange Clean Furniture Spray. Not only can it clean my wooden table, but it can be used for furniture cleaning all around the house including laminate (my counters), leather (my couches), marble, stainless steel, granite, and plastic.

My husband spent a few years building furniture and we are lucky enough to have several pieces that he made throughout our home. While I’m using Pledge® to dust my furniture it’s also conditioning and protecting. I’m a big fan of the protecting. Especially these one of a kind pieces! And if you’re currently suffering from allergies, like I am, Pledge® Orange Clean Furniture Spray features Allergens Trappers® to remove dust and up to 90% of the allergens found in dust. Thank you!

To continue protecting my favorite furniture I’m using a hand knit mitered square wash cloth that I whipped up. I used 100% natural fibers for this project, and I would highly recommend cotton yarn. You can grab the free Mitered Square Cleaning Cloth pattern to make your own.

We used crates and then a folding table given to us as a gift. I think we also bought our table about a year in (ones with leaves are the best!) I hope to keep our dining table looking good for as long as yours has!
