Mason Jar Ice Cream Floats

Mason Jar Ice Cream Floats

Junior high was the first time that I heard someone offer me a ‘purple cow’. I had no idea what they were talking about. Growing up a float meant vanilla ice cream with root beer on top. It wasn’t until that experience that I tried a float with any other kind of soda. And it opened my eyes (and mouth) to a whole slew of new varieties. I love options, so when putting together ice cream floats for our most recent family movie night I decided to let everyone pick and choose their flavors.

Mason Jar Ice Cream Floats

For our mix-and-match soda floats I started by prepping the ice cream. Everyone in my house wanted vanilla ice cream, but you could have a variety of ice cream flavors as well. I put a couple scoops of ice cream into mason jars, screwed on lids, and then stuck them back into the freezer until everyone was ready for their float.

Then all you need to do is have people choose their ice cream and soda flavor of choice. Take the lid off the mason jar and pour in the soda. Your ice cream float is ready!

As much as we love movies I love that the Walmart Family Mobile PLUS Plan includes a free movie on VUDU every month ($7 value). That’s in addition to Unlimited Talk, Text, & Data which includes up to 10GB of 4G LTE per line for $49.88. Everyone can gather around the TV, sip on a float (movie nights always need treats), and watch a movie together.

Right now the Walmart Family Mobile Starter Kits are cheaper than before and now on rollback for just 19.88 (from $25). The offer lasts until July 7th.

We’ve got just a few weeks left of school this year, and while the end of the school year is bittersweet I’m really excited for a new schedule next year. This year there is an hour and 20 minutes between the time that Littlest gets out of school and Youngest Twin. Filling that time is a challenge some days. The larger data bucket of 10GB of 4G LTE data definitely helps keep us entertained during that time. From streaming movies to playing games, Littlest is happy while we wait for his big brother to get out of school with the Samsung Galaxy S5 in his hands.

What is your favorite ice cream float combination? I think mine is vanilla ice cream and cherry cola.

We did all sorts of floats for a birthday celebration at work, and it was a huge hit! We had Root Beer, Grape Soda, Orange Soda, all varieties of Coke, Dr. Pepper – really anything you could imagine!
