Dress up the table with an easy Crochet Placemat free pattern
My house revolves around food. I think the first words my kids utter in the morning and after school are about wanting food. Everyone eats breakfast as soon as they wake up and a snack as soon as they come in the door from school.
I love having lots of placemats around the house. It’s an easy way to not only keep my table cleaner but they also dress up the table. While the kids are fixing themselves a snack they can also grab a placemat and put it down as well. The twins don’t always eat snacks at the table and placemats are an easy way to keep wherever they are snacking, probably in the living room, a little more tidy. And I’m not worrying about where they are setting down hot plates.
It would be fun to stitch up a set of placemats as a gift or make a some to match your holiday decorations.
For these Textured Crochet Placemats I used
- 5.5mm crochet hook
- Worsted weight yarn
Textured Stitch Information
The textured stitch in this pattern is made by doing a sc and dc into the same stitch then skipping the next stitch on the row. You will then sc and dc in each sc from the previous row and skip the dc stitches
Textured Crochet Placemat Directions
- Row 1: Chain 53
- Row 2: dc in 3rd chain from hook, *skip one stitch, 1 sc and 1 dc into the next stitch*
- * repeat to the end of the row ending with 1 sc in the last stitch.
- Row 3: chain 2, turn, dc into the sc at the end of the last row, *skip one stitch, 1 sc and 1 dc into the next stitch*
- * repeat to the end of the row ending with 1 sc in the last stitch.
- Row 4-30: repeat row 3
- Sc all around the edge with 3 sc in each corner.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Now that the crochet placemats are finished I think I’ll make a set of matching coasters!
