First, a November/December Bookclub Recap
With the holidays we decided to do a joint November/December book club where we read Little Women. Which, I have to say, was an inspired choice. To cap things off we indulged in a Christian Bale Little Women movie night where we tweeted some of our favorite movie lines (and book quotes).
Some of my favorite book quotes
“‘I like good strong words that mean something,’ replied Jo, catching her hat as it took a leap off her head preparatory to flying away altogether.”
“There are many Beths in the world, shy and quiet, sitting in corners till needed, and living for others so cheerfully that no one sees the sacrifices till the little cricket on the hearth stops chirping, and the sweet sunshiny presence vanishes, leaving silences and shadow behind.”
“‘A fellow can’t live on books,’ said Laurie, shaking his head as he perched on a table opposite.”
“For love casts out fear, and gratitude can conquer pride”
“Money is a needful and precious thing, and when well used, a noble thing, but I never want you to think it is the first or only prize to strive for. I’d rather see you poor men’s wives, if you were happy, beloved, contented, than queens on thrones, without self-respect and peace.”
“Then it was that Margaret, sitting alone with tears dropping often on her work, felt how rich she had been in things more precious than any luxuries money could buy – in love, protection, peace, and health, the real blessings of life.”

I’m still coming to terms with anyone refusing Christian Bale’s marriage proposal. About midway through the movie my sisters decided that I am Margaret. I am the oldest and I have twins. I’m pretty sure we also have a Jo and Amy. Which sister do you identify with?
Did we miss any of your favorite book (or movie quotes)?
We’re getting a jump on things here in 2016 and have our next several #CocoBookClub books lined up.
January: The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri
February: Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
March: An Unnecessary Woman by Rabih Alameddine
April: Agnes Grey by Anne Bronte
I hope you can read along with us!
