Harry Potter, Hermione, and Hogwarts

October 23, 2014 by Julie 1 Comment

a little throwback Thursday with Youngest Twin wearing a Gryffindor scarf

Some books and movies just seem to fit with certain seasons. For me, Harry Potter is required fall/winter weather watching material. It’s probably the fabulous scarves and hats.

My sisters started me on the Harry Potter obsession. They read the books first and then loaned me their copies to read. (I have since purchased my own set.) It was also my middle sister that started the Harry Potter knitting craze.

She was attending college north of here where it’s much colder, and she asked if I could make her a Harry Potter Gryffindor scarf. I got busy knitting. (And knitting and knitting. That scarf is intense to make.) It’s a tube so it’s double thick and about 7 feet long. I think it did the trick of keeping her warm.

In fact it inspired many other thick stripped scarves in a variety of colors.

But it’s not just the scarves. Hermione wears some pretty amazing hats in the movies as well. This one is based off of one that she wears. (She wears a gray one in the movie, which was the first one that I made. But, again, it’s such a pretty pattern that I kept making them in other colors.)

Harry Potter and Hermione at Hogwarts seem like the perfect combination for our letter H week. Maybe I’ll even make some hot chocolate for us to drink while we watch the movie! (Alliteration has possibly never been so much fun.)
