Dollar Store DIY New Years Eve Ball Drop

New Years Eve Ball Drop DIY

What’s NYE without the ball dropping at midnight? It seems like no matter what else is happening, we flip the TV on at midnight to countdown to the New Year. This New Years Eve I thought it would be fun to DIY my very own Ball Drop with items made from the dollar store!

And it turns out I couldn’t stop with just one ball drop DIY, I ended up making two. A smaller cupcake topper ball drop, and a larger DIY ball drop.

Let’s start with the smaller cupcake topper NYE Ball Drop Cupcakes.

These cupcake toppers are made with felt balls and wooden skewers. You could also use mini styrofoam balls, just depends on what you find at your store!

Start by spray painting both the balls and the wooden skewers silver.

Once my silver NYE Ball Drop cupcake toppers were dry I used some hot glue to add a small clear gemstone to the top. Quickly pop them into your favorite cupcakes for the countdown!

Of course the centerpiece of my party is going to be the larger DIY New Years Eve Ball Drop. This one is made out a large styrofoam ball, a wooden dowel, a metal pail, and some more clear gemstones.

Start by spray painting the styrofoam ball, wooden dowel, and metal pail silver. When the paint is dry push the wooden dowel through the styrofoam ball.

Remove the handle from the metal pail, I was able to do this with some pliers and wire cutters. Flip the pail upside down and drill a hole in the center the same diameter as the wooden dowel. Insert the dowel into the metal pail and secure with hot glue. Use more hot glue to cover the top of the upside down pail with the clear gemstones.

New Years Eve Mocktail

A NYE party isn’t really a party without the perfect party drink. I recently got together with some of my favorite bloggers for a little pre-NYE celebrating and I fell in love with this 2 Ingredient Sparkly Apple Mocktails recipe from Shannon at Everyday Best. It’s such a pretty drink and even makes these gold swirls. It’s hard to explain so just click over and see for yourself.

We all, or a lot of us, probably have health goals going into the new year, but that’s not a reason to not have a delicious appetizer at your NYE party! Chastity from A Cowboy’s Life Blog is coming through with a delicious Keto Bruschetta. Go grab the recipe and then make it for your party guests.
