Dirty Dishes

September 17, 2013 by Julie Leave a Comment

I go to bed every night with dirty dishes in the kitchen sink.
Yep. Every night.
The combination of homeschooling and moving has created the need for a new routine at our house.
And after 13 years of marriage I have finally discovered something. I hate cooking dinner if the kitchen is a mess. If there are dirty dishes from breakfast and lunch piled up I am much more likely to want to get take-out for dinner. But, if the kitchen is clean then I really enjoy cooking. (Which is better for me and my wallet.)
So after lunch each day is when I run the dishwasher and sweep/vacuum the apartment.
I love that it is clean when the other twin comes home from school and my husband comes home from work.
I also love that all of the dishes and utensils are clean when it is time to make dinner.
I am so glad to have finally made this simple discovery.

this picture really has nothing to do with this post
just wanted to document the scarf that I am currently working on

Hahaha Julie, I was just thinking about that last night! Now that dinner time is creeping up, guess who has dishes still in the sink? Yup. Oh well, baby steps right lol!

      Always baby steps 🙂
That’s how I feel with trying to eat healthier!

It really is all about figuring out what works for YOU, which is not necessarily the same as what the “general advice” would be.

I’m still trying to find the perfectly balanced cleaning routine that won’t make me stress about having time to cook/ the patience to re-clean everything after.

I hope you find your balance! If you do please share 🙂 I’m still trying to find the right balance for some of my other chores (laundry)
