Our apartment has a lot of tall windows. Which I love. But it does make cleaning them a wee bit difficult. Particularly since I’m not very tall. Then (light bulb moment!) it occurred to me that the floor duster I use to clean up our concrete floors could be repurposed to clean my windows. I love it when items have more than one use.

Do you remember the Dad from My Big Fat Greek Wedding always using Windex® Original Glass Cleaner in different ways? I kind of feel like I’m doing the same thing with my duster.

The first step was to make a crochet cotton cover to slip over the floor duster. I started by chaining the number of stitches needed for the length of the duster plus about 20, 10 on each end, to fold over for the pockets to hold the duster.

I created the ribbed look of the cleaning pad by alternating rows of back post double crochet with front post double crochet. I thought the ribbing would make a better crochet cleaner. It does!

Of course I also need some cleaner to go with my cleaning pads. I picked up a bottle of Windex® Original Glass Cleaner on my latest grocery run to Kroger.

Make sure to use 100% cotton yarn for this project. This way I can take the cleaning pad off my duster and wash it when I need to. Then slip it back on and clean my windows when they get dirty.

Using my fabulous new window cleaning device I can get my windows cleaned a lot faster than I used to. Which gives me more time for the things that I really enjoy, like movie watching.

This is such a great tip! I wish I had the patience to crochet. I know how, but, I’m too impatient to do it! 😂
