AD Breakfast for Dinner

If Littlest has a superpower it’s probably his sense of smell. Especially when it is dinner time. Sometimes he lets me know he won’t even be tasting dinner based on the smell. But he has also been known to run out from his room grinning from ear to ear if he can smell one of his favorite dishes being made. And lately his favorite dinner choice is breakfast for dinner, where pancakes are required.

Eating dinner together at home is our normal. It’s what we do 5-6 nights a week. And I would say about once a week we do breakfast for dinner. And while my kids aren’t big on sauces on their meals, they are happy to dip things. To go along with our Jimmy Dean® Pancakes and Sausage I put dipping cups on all the plates. (The kids thought the mini cactus shapes were fun!)

I filled each cup with syrup to dip their Pancakes and Sausage. You could also do a separate dipping cup with ketchup for the Tyson® Chicken Nuggets. Plenty of protein and a simple dinner for a night when everyone is hungry right now.

I also wanted to make a fruit plate as part of our breakfast for dinner meal. I went with some of our favorites: green grapes, strawberries, blueberries, oranges, and purple grapes.

In addition to being some of our favorite fruits the colors on our fruit plate have a bit of significance as well.

Red, blue, orange, and purple go along with Raphael (Red), Leonardo (Blue), Michelangelo (Orange), and Donatella (Purple). And if that isn’t a big enough clue, those are the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters.

My middle sister was an avid fan growing up and we definitely had our favorites. Of course each character has their own personality and I always gravitate toward Leonardo who was the natural leader. My sister was certainly more Michelangelo with humor and unpredictability. Maybe I’m also a little Donatello with invention and technology. I think I missed out on Raphael’s hard-core fighting and mastery.
