This holiday season create DIY Snow Globe Cupcake Holders for these easy to assemble Winter Green Cupcakes!
Living in Texas, we don’t get a whole lot of snow. Maybe that’s why I’ve always been drawn to snow globes. I love shaking them up and watching the snow gently fall around the scene inside. Many years ago, I even inadvertently began a snow globe collection.
One year I volunteered to take my grandmother, my Nana, Christmas shopping on the day after Thanksgiving. She wanted my help picking out gifts for my sisters. The store that we were going to was giving out snow globes to the first few hundred people in line each year. We got a snow globe the first year. And the next. And then we kept going. Even if we weren’t even that interested in their sales that year, we had started a snow globe collection that needed to be continued.
I still have those snow globes and they are more special to me now than when I got them because of the memories they hold.
This holiday season I thought I would make my own DIY Snow Globes. But rather than filling them with toys and holiday scenes, I’m making mine into cupcake holders!
I started by creating snow covered Christmas tree cupcakes that will go inside of my snow globe cupcake holders. To start with I need cupcakes, I got mine at the bakery topped with green frosting. I’m also using white chocolate peanut butter cups in two sizes and large white chocolate chips (they’re technically cookies and cream). I unwrapped all of my candies and put the different sizes into their own Ziploc® brand sandwich bags. I decided to put them in the freezer to get extra firm before working with them, since it can still be a tad warm here even in November.
These white chocolate candies will be stacked up to look like snow covered white trees on top of the cupcakes.
Begin by placing the smaller of the white peanut butter cups for the tree base. Then stack the larger white peanut butter cup, the smaller white peanut butter cup, and then the large white chocolate chip on top.
Voila! Snowy holiday tree cupcakes. You can put the plate of finished cupcakes in the fridge while you make the DIY snow globe cupcake holders.
To make the snow globes I used Ziploc® brand Twist ‘N Loc® medium round containers along with white and silver paint pens. To turn the containers into snow globes cupcake holders, I just need to turn them upside down!
I started by making white snowflakes all over the Ziploc® brand Twist ’n Loc® medium containers and then added silver dots.
With my snow globes and cupcakes all finished I just need to put them together.
Untwist the Ziploc® brand Twist ’n Loc® medium containers and place the cupcake on the lid.
Then put the bottom of the container on top of the lid and twist it closed! The size of the containers is perfect for the height of the snowy cupcakes inside.
Your DIY Snow Globe Cupcake Holders will be perfect for gift giving this holiday season.
How will you use Ziploc® brand products this holiday season?
