Summer is just around the corner! The fun activities I enjoyed during the summer are the same ones my kids can enjoy. Stay cool with fizzy sidewalk chalk paint, water hoses, and Budget Saver Assorted Twin Pops.
Is there anything more quintessentially summer than playing outside with some chalk, a water hose, and eating a Budget Saver Twin Pop?
One of my favorite things that Littlest asks me is if he can go outside and play with his imagination. He loves science experiments lately, especially the kind that create some sort of fizzy or bubbling reaction.
With summer just around the corner it’s the perfect opportunity to create some fizzy homemade sidewalk chalk paint. A little science, a little imagination, and a lot of cool summer fun. The first step is to make your sidewalk chalk paint.
Fizzy Sidewalk Chalk Paint
Supplies
- Corn starch
- Baking soda
- Food coloring
- Squirt bottles
- Water
- Vinegar
Directions
- This is all about proportions.
- Fill each squirt bottle with 1/3 corn starch and 1/3 baking soda.
- Add several drops of food coloring. Use each bottle to make a separate sidewalk chalk paint color.
- Finish filling the squirt bottles with 1/3 water.
- Use a knife, chopstick, or something similar to begin stirring the ingredients.
- Place the cap on the squirt bottles and shake well.
Head outside and use your squirt bottles to paint with your homemade sidewalk chalk paint! We painted hearts, suns, rainbows, and even painted a blue flavor Twin Pop.
The science experiment part comes when you make your creations fizzy with vinegar. I had the kids create some simple DIY sponge balls and filled a bowl with vinegar.
The kids could dip the sponge balls into the vinegar and then drip or toss them on their drawings and watch them fizz!
While you’re painting a Budget Saver Twin Pop you will also find you need to eat your inspiration. It’s all part of staying cool!
Once you’re all done painting with your homemade sidewalk chalk paint use a water hose to rinse your creations away and make room to paint again another day.
It’s easy to stay cool this summer with some fizzy homemade sidewalk chalk paint and Budget Saver Assorted Twin Pops!
