Wool You Be Mine Valentine

February 12, 2018 by Julie 1 Comment

This Valentine’s Day ask the yarn crafter in your life, Wool You Be Mine?

wool you be mine my valentine

Do you have a yarn lover in your life? If so, I have the perfect Wool You Be Mine Valentine for them. Clearly, I am a yarn lover. But I also have a group of knitting friends that I hope to share these with as well.

There is a good chance you’ll have most of the supplies for this valentine already on hand.

Supplies:
Cardboard
Scrap yarn
Craft Glue
2 toothpicks
1 paperclip
Scissors
Pliers

Start by creating the yarn ball. I used cardboard for the base circle. A sturdier item is easier to wrap the yarn around. I also cut a small notch in my cardboard circle to help get me started. I used a dab of craft glue for the tail of the yarn, and then I wrapped the yarn around the circle in a pattern to mimic an actual yarn ball. Keep wrapping until the circle is covered, trying to keep the back as flat as possible.

Once my flat(ish) yarn ball was finished I could focus on my yarn tools, knitting needles and a crochet hook. The knitting needles are quickly made from 2 toothpicks. All you need is a pair of sharp scissors to cut off one of the ends. I also use the scissors to create little groves at the end of the toothpicks to mimic actual wooden knitting needles.

I formed the crochet hook from a paper clip. I unfolded the paper clip, using the smaller end to act as the crochet hook. Then I crumpled up other end to hide in the ball of yarn. I used a dab of craft glue to secure them in the yarn balls.

Add the ‘wool you be mine?’ text and your Valentine’s are ready for your favorite yarn lover.
