Ready to spend the day outside with friends and family? Make this simple Outdoor DIY Tic-Tac-Toe game that goes great with a picnic!
Temperatures are soaring and the kids are counting down the days until summer vacation. Everyone is looking forward to long summer days spent playing outside, preferably near some water. As the kids run in and out of the house, finger foods become my favorite snacks. They are great for the kids and perfect for entertaining, which makes them my favorite way to upgrade summer.
It’s easy to create a spread of snacks with Blue Diamond® Gourmet Garlic, Herb, and Olive Oil Almonds, Blue Diamond® Nut-Thins, and Sabra® Roasted Red Pepper Hummus. Want to upgrade summer snacking even more? I even put together a simple DIY outdoor tic-tac-toe game that you can play while you eat!
My kids love crackers, and Blue Diamond® Nut-Thins are made with Real Blue Diamond® Almonds. If you’re hosting friends and family you can feel confident knowing that Nut-Thins are wheat and gluten free, with no artificial flavors. Their crispy, crunchy texture makes them perfect for dipping, or eating by themselves.
I always keep nuts around the house to snack on. I often reach for them in the afternoon between lunch and dinner. These Blue Diamond Gourmet Almonds are a shareable, handcrafted snack of flawlessly seasoned almonds that brings a premium experience for any special occasion or gathering. The chef-inspired seasonings are made with only high-quality Nonpareil almonds.
To go with my gourmet almonds and Nut-Thins I made some veggie mason jars. I put cherry tomatoes, baby carrots, and some thin celery sticks into each jar. That was everyone can easily grab a jar with their own veggies and munch away on them. I like to dip mine in the Sabra® Roasted Red Pepper Hummus!
Hummus is the perfect summer dip for any outdoor snack. Enjoy it with fresh vegetables or protein, like grilled chicken strips.
A gathering isn’t complete without a little entertainment. My family really likes to play games. I wanted to create an outdoor game that would go well with our outdoor snacks. Using a round piece of wood, some rocks, and a little paint I created this outdoor tic-tac-toe game! I don’t think you can ever outgrow tic-tac-toe, even my teenagers play this outdoor version with me.
I painted the wood with a summery ocean blue color and let it dry. Then seal it with a clear sealing spray to make sure it lasts outdoors longer. I used a pencil and a ruler to mark out my tic-tac-toe board and then filled it in with a black paint pen marker. The last step was to draw X’s and O’s on my rocks using a white paint pen marker. You can also use the clear sealant on the rocks when you have finished painting them.
I picked up a small ceramic pot to store my tic-tac-toe pieces. Using rocks as game pieces means you won’t be worried if there are crumbs on your hands while you play and eat!
