You Me Oui

February 2, 2018 by Julie Leave a Comment

Who doesn’t love a whimsical play on words? This one is perfect for Valentine’s Day! Cross stitch this You Me Oui pattern for yourself or a gift

You Me Oui

What do you do when you see a t-shirt with a fabulous saying on it that you just can’t get out of your head? You commit to it with counted cross stitch.

You Me Oui

You, Me, Oui. I love some word play and this was brilliant. When you say it out loud it sounds like ‘you me we’, but then it means ‘you me yes’. Oui, pronounced like we, is French for yes.

My parents both speak French, though they didn’t teach it to me or my sisters. My Dad lived in Belgium for a few years and my Mom studied French in college. The best I can do is count to 10, say a few words, and sing a song about a bird. After seeing the phrase on a t-shirt my husband’s cousin was wearing I couldn’t get it out of my head.

You Me Oui

My husband comes from a large family. While I have exactly 3 first cousins, and that’s both sides of my family, my husband has like 25 first cousins just on his Mom’s side. We were in Twin Falls, Idaho last summer visiting those cousins when I saw the t-shirt. While the reason for our visit wasn’t a cheerful one, my husband’s grandmother passed away and we were there for her funeral, it was a beautiful weekend celebrating her life and spending time with extended family.

You Me Oui

After coming home I couldn’t get the phrase out of my head. I knew I needed it displayed in my office. Not only does it remind me of the trip where I saw the phrase, but I think it’s beautiful and whimsical. Ready to commit to you me oui? Download the free cross stitch pattern.
