Give Mom a memorable Mother’s Day Gift! DIY State Embroidery Craft
Do you ever get stumped for a Mother’s Day gift? This year make her something heartwarming and personal with a state embroidery hoop gift!
Whether you choose the state where you grow up, or maybe the state where Mom lives now, she’ll love this State Embroidery Hoop gift that shows that you care this Mother’s Day. For me, Texas is home, so I’m making a Texas Embroidery Craft gift for my Mom.
State Embroidery Hoop
Supplies
- Embroidery hoop
- Heavy fabric (I used yellow duck cloth)
- a Texas shape
- buttons
- needle
- thread
- scissors
The first step is to trace your Texas shape on to your fabric.
Then start stitching on your buttons. I added the larger buttons first and then filled in the holes and edges with the smaller buttons. Keep adding buttons until it is as filled in as you want. I was able to make this even more special for my Mom by using vintage buttons that had belonged to her Mom, my Nana.
Trim the fabric around the back. Then admire your finished project!
Change the state to the one where you grew up or where your Mom lives now to personalize it!

Thanks, Shelley! My Mom is a great gift getter, she always seems happy with what I make her. But I’m really hoping she loves this one 🙂

That little Texas is just adorable. I love the buttons! We’ve done a buttons on canvas project before, but I don’t think we’ve ever ventured beyond that. I do love to play with fun and funky buttons, though!

Thanks, Helen! I’m already eyeing some other button crafts (I have a lot of buttons!)
