Cold weather makes me want to stay inside and knit all the things. Or finger knit all the things. Like these One-Hour Finger Knit Infinity Scarves.
Finger knitting is great because you don’t need any supplies other than some yarn and your fingers. And it’s super simple. (If you’ve never tried finger knitting before see my finger knitting tutorial here.)
I typically do finger knitting on three fingers, but you can also do it with two or four fingers as well. Here are two finger knit strands side by side for some comparison. The one on the left is two strands of yarn held together and finger knit on three fingers. The one on the right is four strands of yarn held together and finger knit on four fingers.
You’ll want to finger knit a nice long piece of work. Wrap it around your neck as you go along so see if it’s long enough for your scarf. For the scarf on the right I used about 2 skeins of yarn. One skein of black yarn, divided in half (or pulling from the inside and outside of the skein as you work) and one skein of colored yarn worked the same way. For the wintery (or ‘Frozen’ inspired) blue and white scarf I used about half a skein of each color.
Once you’re finger knitting is as long as you want it to be, knot the beginning and end of your work together and weave in the ends.
Then I started looping my work to turn it into a finished infinity scarf. The final touch was a handmade (by my Dad!) leather cuff. I’ll have to see if I can get him to teach me how to make them.
I added a simple suede leather cuff to my wintery infinity scarf and a pink studded leather cuff (seriously, how fun is that cuff) to my brightly colored infinity scarf.
Each scarf took about an hour from start to finish. A quick and easy knit project that you can do in an afternoon or evening.
Then you’ll have something new and fun to wear when it’s cold outside!
