Last week I introduced one of my projects for 2015, a collaboration with my sister Kara called “Stitched Together“.
In addition to the collaboration in my shop, Kara will be collaborating here on the blog with me more this year as well. She will be helping me with a few series this year. She has actually contributed to the blog before (like this Dry Shampoo DIY), so I’m really excited for that to come together.
But before we start all of that, I thought we’d do a little intro with her.
Without further ado, here’s Kara…
Hello!
If you saw Julie’s post about Stitched Together, then you know at least one thing about me already: that my husband and I are preparing to adopt.
Let me share a few other tidbits about myself, since I hope you and I will be spending some time together on this blog.
I’m a great lover of books. I’m a fan of classic, and particularly British literature. I feel transported by language, and within my mind I have experienced more eras, events, and cultures than my one lifetime could possibly hold on its own. As you can probably guess, I also love to travel. Of course I love to see the sights and go where the famous and often infamous have been before, but I also enjoy exploring non-frequented areas, eating authentic food, and letting local life wash over me.
Can you tell yet that I also love to write? If reading is my love, writing is my passion. I like to document, philosophize, and create.
In addition to creating with words, I also love to create with food. Foodie stores are my heaven, and all is right in the world if there is garlic and onion sauteing in butter on my stove. I love cooking (and baking!) for other people, which brings me to another important trait: I love to entertain. I’ve thrown all my own birthday parties for as long as I can remember, and I try to get everyone else to let me plan their’s too…
For the past several years, friends and family have given me gnomes for my birthday. Yes, garden gnomes. I’m not sure where my affinity for squat little terracotta men in caps came from (possibly Babette from Gilmore Girls), but the state of my patio tells me it’s here to stay.
Speaking of Gilmore Girls, like my sisters I have watched it countless times and quote it regularly. I love binge watching television shows, and my husband and I go to a lot of movies. Oscar Season is probably our favorite time of year, and we try to see as many of the “noms” as possible.
And that’s basically me in a nutshell. Nice to meet you!

Book recommendation for Kara: Cooking for Mr. Latte. She writes well, and I’ve adapted her baguette-chocolate-ricotta-dulce dessert to my own tastes, with great success.
